Fergie Frustrated at Tevez Saga

31 07 2007

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted his protracted pursuit of Carlos Tevez is proving “slightly frustrating”.

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign the Argentina striker but their efforts to conclude the transfer are being thwarted by the legal wrangle over who owns Tevez..s registration.

The 23-year-old..s advisor Kia Joorabchian has issued High Court proceedings against West Ham, who maintain Tevez is their player.
As it presently stands, three days have been set aside for the hearing, which is due to start on August 22.

The dates mean the matter could be resolved before the August 31 transfer deadline, although there has been speculation that a private settlement may be reached before then which would see Joorabchian pay West Ham a set fee in order to release Tevez from his contract.

Ferguson remains calm about the prospect of Tevez eventually arriving at Old Trafford. But the United boss accepts the current impasse suits no-one.

“I am not worried because I am confident the player will eventually arrive,” he said.

“But it has been dragging on and it has become a bit frustrating.

“At the moment it is going to the High Court. I am sure we will get a final decision on the matter there.

“But if something happens before that, it is something we would welcome.”

During United..s recent Far East tour, Ferguson did claim there was no ..Plan B.. should the Tevez deal fail to materialise as United anticipate.

However, on the eve of the Red Devils.. high-profile friendly with Inter Milan, Ferguson did admit he would have to consider an alternative strategy should Tevez not sign, especially as Alan Smith looks certain to depart before the end of next month.

“The deadline is coming up at the end of August, so we do have to think about alternative plans that way,” he said.

“I just want the matter settled, the sooner the better as far as everyone is concerned.

“I am sure even West Ham think that way. They have their own plans and they have done a lot of buying and selling, so they will want some kind of conclusion in terms of how their team is shaping up.”

What Makes you a United Fan?

30 07 2007

Just out of curiousity for an article I am doing research on, just wondered why you are a United fan?

What made you choose them, was it cos your family have always been fans or something else.

Is it the players, is it cos of the pure class in their play?

Is it something in your blood?

Whatever it is would you please let me know.

Thanks in anticipation of your replies, if there are any

The Heinze Affair

28 07 2007

All this hype being banded around Gabi this and Gabi that, its so bloody annoying.

The boss says “over his dead body will Heinze go to Liverfool (okay I changed it to fool)”.

Whilst  Heinze’s agent is doing his best to make things worse.

So is this yet another agent flexing his rights over the player muscle?

Gabi has not yet admitted either way, what he will do, all we get is “we will see what will happen and where I will be playing but I am happy at Manchester” so WTF is going on?

If truly Gabriel Heinze is not happy at OT then let him move on, it’s this I want regular football excuse, which is quite right in a way, thats what they all want but will this be different at Liverpool, same thing will happen there or any other club, its called rotation of the players, this happens when teams have big squads or injuries occur, someone is always going to be let down or left out.

Man United will have the same problem next season as well, the squad amassed by SAF, will always see someone left out and sitting on the bench, its life as a footballer and you have to accept it.

Then every transfer window there will be problems, players wanting out because of lack of games, some are justified claims I am sure, some just to raise their worth with their present clubs.

The old saying comes to mind “you can’t please all the people all of the time but you can please some of the people some of the time”.

My own view dont let him go to Liverpool, only because we are the biggest rivals in the North West and hatred is rife and the fact, the shit that will come from this just doesn’t bear thinking about should he go there.

Chants of “United Reject” ringing out from the Stretford End, after all these guys took Gabi into their hearts and feel let down by this whole saga, so can you blame them?

United get mobbed on training ground

27 07 2007

Enthusiastic Manchester United fans stormed the field and briefly interrupted their training session in the southern city of Guangzhou yesterday.

After stars like Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney emerged from the dressing room to loud cheers, a sea of screaming Chinese fans ran on to the pitch, with some taking pictures.

The players were sent back to the dressing room and waited until the crowd dispersed before returning.

None of the players were injured, although they were overwhelmed by the passion of their Guangzhou fans.

Yesterday’s practice came ahead of United’s friendly today against Guangzhou Pharmaceutical – the last stop of the club’s Asian tour.

Heinze show some loyalty says Fergie.

25 07 2007

Sir Alex Ferguson believes Gabriel Heinze owes to the club to stay at Manchester United.

Heinze is currently at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between United and Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Liverpool are keen to sign the Argentine defender and have tabled a bid for the former Paris Saint Germain star.

United are adamant they will not sell Heinze to their bitter rivals even though Heinze’s agent reputedly has a letter which gives the defender permission to leave Old Trafford for the fee that Liverpool have offered for the South American.

Liverpool have instructed their lawyers to pursue the move for Heinze, but Ferguson remains determined to stop the player making the switch to Anfield.

The Scot feels Heinze should show loyalty to United because of the way the club helped him recover from his serious knee injury two years ago.

“He is still our player and that is the most important thing,” Ferguson told Sky Sports News.

“He still has two-years left on his contract and I think we have stood by Gaby very well.

“He had his cruciate knee operation, we looked after him and we let him him do his rehabilitation in Spain which he wanted to do.

“We conducted ourselves in a way that suited Gaby perfectly and he was delighted the way we looked after him.

“I think if we take away the agent’s role in this I don’t think there is an awful lot wrong with Gaby’s position at the club.”

Ferguson also believes Heinze may have helped United’s cause in their bid to sign Carlos Tevez by recommending the Premier League champions to the West Ham forward.

United remain hopeful of signing Tevez despite the move being held up because of a wrangle over his ownership rights between West Ham and the player’s representatives.

Tevez is determined to join United and Ferguson believes Heinze may have persuaded his fellow Argentine to make the move to Old Trafford.

“I think the fact they have been in the Argentine team the last few weeks I am sure Gaby has told him how good a club Manchester United is, because there is no other thing you can say about Manchester United from his own experiences,” added Ferguson.

“Maybe that in some way has helped Carlos Tevez to know he is coming to the right club.”

This Damn Tevez Saga

25 07 2007

I think if we are all honest, most of the United faithful are a bit pissed off with this whole Tevez drama that keeps getting more and more complicated as the weeks go by.

Alan Curbishley said the one true thing to come out of West Ham in recent weeks, he wants an end to it all because “every day seems to be a Tevez day”.

Probably just as well Man United are in Asia right now away from all the shit happening here, although it has to be said, none of this is United’s fault, we approached the player in good faith and was told, yes we are interested by the Tevez camp, so the plan was hatched to try and get him at OT, all done in the right way, no under-handedness on United’s part, then all hell breaks loose.

Now we have a situation that no one really wanted, the FA too shit scared to deal with this, in case it back fires on them because of the fine they imposed on West Ham, the FA are supposed to be the ruling body in this country and what they say should stand, so if West Ham still own Tevez, then surely any dealings must be made through that club and not the agent Jooribian, I think Man United should deal with WHU pay the fee, get Tevez at OT and then let Jooribian and WHU fight in out in the courts, whilst that is going on, Tevez could be playing for us next season, job done but I guess its not going to be that simple, too many factors to consider, too many people involved and now it seems a shit load of court cases to decide someones fate.

The outcome of all this though, could spark off a cry from the FIFA and the FA to change the laws allowing any agents owning any part of the player in the future, personally I think that would make life so much simpler, the player is either free to transfer or he isn’t, just like it used to be, progress uh? who needs it?

A rather fucked off URA with this Tevez bollocks tonight.

Fifa passes Tevez affair to Court of Arbitration for Sport

24 07 2007
Manchester United’s pursuit of Carlos Tevez took a new twist today when Fifa recommended the matter should be referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Both West Ham and businessman Kia Joorabchian claim ownership of Tevez, but – unlike the Premier League and the FA – Fifa has no rules preventing third-party influence over player contracts and believes the referral is in the best interests of all parties.

“The recommendation from Fifa to the FA and the Premier League is to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport,” said a Fifa spokesman. “Under the circumstances it was felt it would be in the best interest of all parties to take this course. It looks like being the fastest way of resolving this matter. It is not a refusal by Fifa to get involved, quite the contrary. It is a recommendation by Fifa to opt for this way.”

The recommendation to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport applies to West Ham and Tevez but not United, who are not regarded as directly involved in the dispute.

The Premier League welcomed Fifa’s decision, with a spokesman saying: “The Premier League and FA are grateful to Fifa for considering this issue. We are supportive of the recommendation that if all parties are in agreement the matter should be referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

West Ham were eager for Fifa to get involved in what has become a stalemate in recent weeks, with the club refusing to sanction Tevez’s proposed move to Manchester United. Joorabchian claims he owns the player’s economic rights and is therefore entitled to his transfer fee. The Premier League, however, says the Hammers own the player and therefore must receive any such fee.

United chief executive David Gill had said last week that he was confident Fifa would reach a decision on the issue. “What you find in these situations, though, is that Fifa and the necessary bodies try to make sure that the player can play, whether it’s for Manchester United or for West Ham.”

URA – Its called passsing the buck, in most circles.

Shenzhen 0-6 Man United

23 07 2007

Manchester United completely demolished China Super league side Shenzhen 6-0 in the third game of their East Asia tour.

Six different scorers including a debut goal from Nani secured the victory, which could have easily been double figures.

The first half was a stroll for United, they dominated possession and were given far too much time on the ball, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney often producing moments of show-boating.

United made their early superiority count when Darren Fletcher slotted Rooney in, who found himself one-on-one with the keeper but the powerful striker unselfishly rolled across for Ryan Giggs to tap-in.

The Red Devils doubled their lead on 20 minutes when a superb half-volleyed reverse ball by Giggs found Rooney, who audaciously lobbed the keeper from just inside the area.

The impressive Giggs was involved in United’s third as he set up up Nani for a debut goal. The Welshman flicked the ball into the path of the debutant and he coolly hit a first-time shot into the bottom left-hand corner.

Shenzhen displayed some neat passing at times but failed to create, only managing a few long-rang efforts which Edwin van der Sar easily gathered.

Alex Ferguson’s men also had two goals bizarrely disallowed, the first a Ronaldo header and the second a stabbed Wes Brown shot.

Just before the first half came to a close United almost made it four when Ronaldo smashed a dipping 25-yard free-kick against the bar.

Minutes into the second half Shenzhen carved out an opportunity, a pacey cross was swiped at by Patrice Evra and it fell to the left-winger but his shot rippled against the side-netting.

After a slow start to the half United slowly began to get their tempo back, a sweeping ball from Brown found Ronaldo who drove in and laid the ball into the path of John O’Shea who finished expertly.

Minutes later Nani started a counter-attack with a direct run, he pushed the ball right to Rooney who then rolled the balled across to Ronaldo, who easily finished to make it five.

On 64 minutes substitute Chris Eagles made it two goals in two games with a wonderful 30-yard strike which swerved and dipped into the top corner.

Despite the humidity United’s pressure was relentless as Michael Carrick’s shot came down off the bar and Alan Smith spurned a golden opportunity when he dallied on the ball.

Shenzhen continued to chase every ball but it was to no avail as United eased to victory.

The Premier League champions finish their tour of East Asia when they face Guangzhou Pharmaceutical on 27th July.
